Willem August van der Colk was born in Haarlem in 1889 and died in Haarlem in 1982.
He lived and worked in Haarlem.
Van der Colk was a pupil of A. Miolee (drawing), of C. Kickert and of J. Ritsema. He had advice from G.H. Breitner.
Van der Colk painted, drew, lithographed and made wood engravings, in a figurative style, flowers, plants (mostly in greenhouses) and still lifes. He was a particularly clever draughtsman of trees, branches, roots, etc. (Source: Scheen)
Willem August van der Colk was a member of the Association of Visual Artists; ‘De Onafhankelijken Amsterdam’ and of the Vereeniging Sint Lucas Amsterdam.
